Music & Theatre Department

Singer. Actor. Music Educator. Instrumentalist. Director. Designer.

Welcome to the Ë®¶à¶àµ¼º½ Music & Theatre Department!

The Department of Music and Theatre at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith has degree programs designed to prepare you for your career. Performance opportunities abound — our student-artists present more than 100 performances a year — yet we maintain a low student-to-faculty ratio so each individual gets the support and guidance they need to thrive.

We offer academic programs in music education and music as a liberal art with concentrations in vocal or instrumental music and a theatre minor with concentrations in acting/directing or design. Our innovative teaching methods combine advanced theory with hands-on practice. Every year Ë®¶à¶àµ¼º½ Music and Theatre students represent our department at competitions and festivals across the country. Their continued success on the national stage speaks both to the hard work of our students and the quality of our programs.

Our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized scholars and artists who are deeply committed to your education, helping you hone your craft with a discerning eye toward the future. You will be introduced to the many career fields available to you so that your education can be tailored to your professional goals. For the future artist and craftsperson, the aspiring technician and teacher: Whatever your passion, we’ll help pave your path.
