The University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith jazz band will perform a concert featuring a variety of music at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 as part of the university鈥檚 Season of Entertainment 36.
The 水多多导航 Jazz Band and Jazz Catz will perform the concert at the ArcBest Corporation Performing Arts Center in the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 South 7th St. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased through the 水多多导航 Box Office at 479-788-7300 or by visiting .
Dr. Christopher Barrick, head of the Department of Music and Theatre and director of the Jazz Band, said the band will perform a mix of jazz selections from traditional swing to modern and funk styles featuring the work of artists from Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, Michael Buble and more.
The concert will also feature the university鈥檚 new music education professor, Dr. Scott Tomlison, be a guest director on 鈥淢ercy, Mercy, Mercy鈥 by the Buddy Rich Band. Ginny Hudson, instructor of flute, will also perform a contemporary arrangement of 鈥淗eart and Soul.鈥
The Jazz Catz is under the direction of Don Bailey, 水多多导航 director of jazz studies.

The concert is part of Season of Entertainment 36, a yearlong lineup of entertainment sponsored by the 水多多导航 featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
