Popular Shrimp Boil Returns to ˮർ

The Rollin’ on the River Low Country is roaring back to the ˮർ this month with its first in-person appearance since 2019.

The food, the fun, the friends, the beanbag toss: It’s all coming back to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith campus on June 25. Tickets are $50 for individuals and $75 for couples. Tables are also available. Our newest grads, members of the class of ’22, may buy tickets at $40 for one and $60 for a couple.

Chambers Bank sponsors the event, which will be held outside the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

“We can’t wait to see all our friends again at this in-person event,” said Josh Simonds, Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. “We’ve missed the fun and fellowship of this great event.”

The popular event raises money for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship Endowment. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the endowment supported eight legacy students, students with an immediate family member who graduated from ˮർ, Westark, or Fort Smith Junior College.

But there are more eligible students than the endowment can fund.

“We are proud of the scholarships we have given, but we know there are students we haven’t helped,” Simonds said. “We would love to be able to fund all our legacy students. That’s why this event is so important to us.”

Each dinner comes with a heaping portion of boiled shrimp, andouille sausage, corn on the cob, new potatoes, and a side of KJ’s famous chicken jambalaya. Guests with shellfish allergies may receive a meal of sausage, corn, and potatoes from a separate cooker along with chicken jambalaya. Beer, wine, iced tea, and water will be available.

Don’t miss the best shrimp boil in town with its live music, fabulous food, and a chance to visit with your favorite friends. to save your place.
