Lion Voices: Kevvin Brown
Our final Black History Month #LionVoices feature is a man who makes life better for so many students on the 水多多导航 campus: Kevvin Brown. Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Kevvin moved to Arkansas and to attend college at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. After graduating from Ozarks in May, he applied for a job at 水多多导航 working in the office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
As an immigrant Kevvin said he has a unique perspective on Black History Month. 鈥淐oming from the Bahamas it was crazy to see how our culture intertwined with that of Africans and African Americans across the globe.鈥 He explained that celebrating the history of the many different experiences that embody Black culture and connect Black people, no matter where they are or where they come from is what Black History Month is really about.
Bringing about positive change on campus is Kevvin鈥檚 favorite thing about his role at 水多多导航. Though when he started he expected to take on a typical administrative role, he鈥檚 found meaning in his work with executive director John Blue and in his efforts helping found the Men of Excellence program. Working with MOX and mentoring the inaugural members 鈥 who you鈥檒l often find crowded around his desk asking advice about school, life, and everything between 鈥 has been incredibly fulfilling, Kevvin said.
